Allie Crewe is a UK-based artist and photographer who creates collaborative visual stories about people, with a particular interest in women’s lives, memory, inheritance and experience. Her long-form practice explores lives in transition — what is healed, what remains, and what we carry with us.
Working collaboratively with participants, Allie uses portraiture, staged imagery, writing and archival material to create work that opens up dialogue, challenges stereotypes and offers alternative perspectives. Her projects are rooted in sustained relationships, allowing intimate and authentic stories to emerge and connect with wider social histories.
Alongside this, she undertakes selected editorial commissions for national newspapers and magazines, and collaborative projects with arts, cultural and social-impact organisations.
Allie holds a Master of Fine Arts in Photography (Distinction) and is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society. She is a two-time winner and three-time finalist of Portrait of Britain and Portrait of Humanity, and has been shortlisted for the Royal Photographic Society International Photography Exhibition.
She has exhibited across the UK, including at Ffotogallery Wales and Photo London, and her photography has appeared in The Guardian, The Independent, The Telegraph Magazine, The Sunday Times and BBC News. Her clients and collaborators have included Arts Council England, Salford Art Gallery, the NHS and The Science Gallery London.
Her work is held in private collections, and editioned prints are available for purchase. She undertakes selected commissions and collaborations.

“Sincere and poignant work.” — Magnum Photo Awards
“These images have a lot of heart and empathy; they offer detail and a real sense of actual relationships… an account of love that feels timeless. They do not judge; they celebrate in a gentle and accommodating way.” — LensCulture
“…the photographs (Your Own Light) continue Allie’s journey as a political artist, exploring social issues through photography to give voice to those often denied power.” — Creative Boom
